Last night I watched a movie called- The Brood  A movie directed by David Cronenberg  . Its about separation, child custody and RAGE.. Art Hindle stars as Frank Carveth, a father going through a difficult time in his life . His wife has had breakdown- staying in a controversial new age clinic in some sort of lock down therapy.  His  daughter, Candice (Cindy Hinds), still visits his wife at the weekends, but one day she returns home battered and bruised. The little girl cannot explain why the marks and scratches are there, but it must have happened at the clinic while she was with her mother. He tries to go see his wife and question her but her doctor, Dr Hal Raglan (Oliver Reed), has decided this would damage her therapy. He tells him that Nola (Samantha Eggar) can not to be disturbed.

it seems that during the therapy sessions with Raglan, long forgotten hatred and fears are awoken people who have wronged her- people who she has grudges against wind up getting killed.., her parents are brutally murdered by creepy small child-like figures/demons.  It is also possible that Candice has witnessed the murders , but will not say anything about it.

The movie follows Carveth ( who is scared for his daughter’s safety and starts investigating what is happening at the Institute.) There seems to be some connection with the experimental  therapy , Dr Raglan, and Nola. .

A great 70’s movie . I try to watch it every couple of years and its truly a guilty pleasure of mine
