My Bloody Valentine (Original) Review

20 years after a horrific massacre in a small town the killer from that massacre has returned. But no one knows until the police receive a candy box containing a human heart, which is what the killer did back then as well! Now this peaceful town is going to feel the cold hand of the pick axe as the killer begins his spree once more! But why does he return on this Valentines Day at the first party in 20 years? Is there a reason?
Now, I saw the uncut version of this movie, previously released by Lionsgate, and I gotta say, if your going to see this movie get the unrated for sure! It comes with the unrated and the theatrical cut version so you can compare which you prefer. But for me, I want the gore, I HATE cut films! Its destroying art and there is no true reason to do it!
Anyways, My Bloody Valentine, unlike its recent day remake, is a better film. Mostly because its not polluted by modern day hot shot actors and its just an overall better movie, although the remake is more fun in its gore and 3D effects!
This movie isn't over the top gory but the uncut version, as you've probably heard before, is still gorier than most of the 80's slashers like Madman or Friday the 13th for sure! Although, not everything is about the gore. The story is basically a typical slasher flick, a small town with a history has the killer come back for revenge and some of the townsfolk know it but the others are clue-less and just let it happen and then eventually say, "Oh know, he's back he's back help us!". And this is definitely NO exception!
The acting is alright for a movie like this, obviously nothing special. But the killer, in the mask, always looks bad ass, no matter what he just does! A gas mask and a pick axe....thats someone you don't wanna fuck with!
Overall, the movie is pretty gory and a decent but typical slasher from the 80's. Its worth checking out for sure! But go for the recent uncut version with the special features! I give the original My Bloody Valentine a 7/10!!!!
