8 out of 10 Skulls

I was finally able to watch trick 'r treat. Got disappointed when I first heard that movie was suspended a couple of years ago. But it's out at last and I could say, it was worth the wait. I just finished watching the movie and I'm satisfied with what I saw. This movie isn't one of the greatest modern movies, nor it's a 00's masterpiece. But the outcome is pretty exciting and well built so that the experience of watching the movie remains. I don't know and I can't think a reason why Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures pushed back the movie, but it worked well for the movie since it's only one month for Halloween and "trick 'r treat" puts us in the mood. The plot is one of the strong things about this movie. There are four certain rules that someone interested in the halloween tradition should follow.

Wear a costume, hand out treats, never blow out a jack-o'-lantern and always check your candy. The film makes us understand what the consequences would be for anyone who doesn't follow these rules. I would like to say more about the plot, but it would be easy to make spoilers and I don't want to ruin it for you. The thing I found the most interesting in this movie is some ideas it contained. Not so innovative, but surely well used. For example the comic attitude. We had comic strips, comic covers and in general the comic factor was a definate aspect of the film that added a lot to the movie. There were also some pretty clever flashbacks and lots of changes and surprises which you couldn't have imagined of.

The acting was more than acceptable, even with the small children and some of the scenes were pretty sick. Again I won't mention any particular scenes because I want to avoid the danger of making spoilers, but some of the scenes were very believable, very clever and also some had a funny attitude in them which just sticked to the whole movie and made it even more great. Not so much gore and definately not a slasher film, but it had just the right amount of all the aspects that a "higher than average" movie should have. To sum up, I enjoyed myself with this movie and it surely is a fun to watch film. I definately recommend it to all of you. Whether you'll like it or not, it has a lot of great ideas on how to spend your halloween evening. Just kidding. A "do not try this at home" sign would be appropriate. Back on topic though, give this film a try and I'm sure you won't regret it. Compared to some other films that are made these days, this movie is a shiny spot in the horror film industry.
