True Halloween spirit is unleashed full force in this anothology of horror for the recent times, Trick 'r Treat. Trick 'r Treat is about four different stories all tied in together and told throughout the movie. They include a principal who is also a serial killer, kids looking for to give a good scare with an old legend, a girl and her sister trying to find dates for a party, and an old man being haunted by a masked child. These tie in together surprisingly quite well and is in the tradition of movies like Creepshow with the comic book pages and freeze frames, its great!

Now, I love Halloween.... I mean I really love Halloween, the feeling, the tone, the mood, and its all for fun. This movie does that nearly perfect, its very fun, without being silly or stupid, its kind of gory, its dark in tone, and its full of twists! I really liked this movie.

There is not a dull minute in this movie, it starts off fast and it ends fast. But thats also a downfall, the movie is very very short and I was sad to see it was over. Plus the different segments or whatever you wanna call them were each like fifteen minutes each which I would like to see them run them longer. But regardless, this movie kicks ass!

This movie has been highly anticipated for me, and I believe many other horror fans as well. The movie has been set to come out again and again and again and now that its finally out, I'm not surprised by it. I wasn't expecting more from the movie, it was all taht I was hoping, for the most part, and it looks and feels great.

The cast is quite good for the movie as well. Brian Cox is a good ol' actor and he does a good job playing the old man! Dylan Baker playing the principal was just fun to watch, he plays a great and fitting character to me! The kids in the movie aren't real actors but they are alright. I'm not much to judge actors because I'm a huge fan of low budget movies but they didn't do terrible. The kid from Bad Santa was in this and he has one of my favorite moments in the movie! ;) just look for it early on! Anna Paquin plays the innocent virgin and she too does a fine job playing the innocent girl. This movie is directed and written by Michael Dougherty and he did a very nice job bringing the spirit of Halloween back where the land of remakes has seemed to take over! The movie is original and fun, although full of cliches and unoriginal topics.

The effects for the most part look all practical, except for a few scenes of CGI (like monsters...not gunna say what kind). But for the most part its practical. Actually, the effects look really good too! This movie shows you don't need CGI filled garbage for modern movies to make them good! The gore isn't plentiful, its pretty tame, but there are a few scenes that look kewl. There are some pretty kewl ass scenes as well, some you may not have seen before as well ;).

Trick 'r Treat is a near perfect Halloween film, its great to watch on, around, and hell...even after Halloween time. It will get people in the mood and its great to watch with friends, its just all fun and games, until someone eats a bad piece of candy :P. I highly recommend checking this movie out for sure! Its great, Trick 'r Treat may not have been fully worth its wait but now that its out, don't miss it! I give Trick 'r Treat a strong 8/10!!!! I love Halloween and this one is great, I just can't help myself! Get into the spirit, and see this movie!
