The best movie made about Halloween since Nick Castle put on that William Shatner mask.

Trick r Treat is a trip back to the 80's, when the goal of a horror film was to excite and entertain, not torment. It is also a loving tribute to the classic EC horror comics, weaving four tales of terror into a blood-spattered portrait of what makes this holiday so beloved, so dangerous, and so much damn fun. Think Creepshow, only more so.

The film also introduces us to Sam. He is one creepy little dude who embodies the spirit of All Hallow's Eve. If you don't respect the rules of the holiday, then you will have Sam to contend with. He's a perfect horror movie icon, and deserving of his own franchise, which Trick r Treat could have been in Warner Bros' had allowed this masterpiece a theatrical run.

Don't waste your time with the yearly nonsense of Saw, give Trick 'r Treat a watch instead! The film is a perfect companion to Carpenter's classic for a scary movie marathon on Oct. 31.
