Army of Darkness (1992) Review
Written by: Gardenofstone10
I just realized I have yet to write a review on this movie. So, I did what any self respecting horror fan did and bought it on Blu Ray and watched it on a huge TV.
Plot:
This movie is almost 20 years old....do I really need to explain. Picks up right where Evil Dead 2 leaves off with Ash falling into a time portal and going back to 1300 AD and being enslaved.
After showing off his boomstick talents, Ash is treated like a god. He needs to find the necronomican aka Book of the Dead. This book holds powers against the dead and can send Ash back to his time.
Blah blah blah, Ash saves the day. Deadites threaten to swallow his soul hit end credits.
What makes this movie great is it was one of the last big horror movies to use pre CGI graphics. On the Blu Ray making of, we get to see how the Army of Darkness was created with the puppets and wires involved. True movie making at its finest.
Also, this is a cult classic. I personally LOVE all the Evil Dead movies. I love Sam Raimi's comedy skills and his filmmaking techniques. I love Bruce Campbell's Elvisesque acting. Everything about this movie is something I love. Raimi doesn't flood this movie with mainstream music, either....he has an orchestral score that sounds a lot like Danny Elfman, although he did do one piece of the musical score.
This is one of my highest recommendations just based on how fun it is. Peace.
