Zombieland Review

8 out of 10 Skulls

If slow-motion bloody zombie deaths set to Metallica's For Whom The Bell Tolls does not get you excited, I don't know what will. Zombieland is a great time. Nay, it's one of the best times I've had in a theatre all year!

It's a romance, a comedy, a road movie and a freewheeling schlock horrorfest, all in one. There are some brilliant character moments in this, and even some scenes of high drame, but director Ruben Fleischer never lets Zombieland tip over into drama for too long, because the overriding mission here is to laugh in the face of the apocalypse. And we do.

The film boasts an amusing script, a quick tempo and a cast that milks the madness for all it's worth. Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg have a great buddy chemistry and Emma Stone took "the chick" role and made it her own. And there is something amusing about seeing little Abigail Breslin mow down hordes of the undead with automatic weapons.

Here's hoping Zombieland 2 isn't far off!
