I have to say Zombie land is my new favorite film of all time.. I absolutely LOVED it !!! Zombieland is about a couple of guys trying to get by after the zombie apocalypse. Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) is a shut-in,shy geek with a fear of people in general ( especially clowns) and Tallahassee( Woody Harrelson ) is a nothing-to-lose, redneck badass who’s finally discovered his gift in life: Zombie killin’. Oh did I mention ?? Tallahassee is also on a mission to obtain the last few precious Twinkies left in the world.. .
Columbus has managed to survive the zombie outbreak because even before the zombies took over he was very paranoid of everybody anyways.. He’s also made up a list of rules for surviving in a world of zombies, and the first few are highlighted hysterically in the opening minutes of the movie. For instance- Rule #1: Cardio - it goes back to the old joke about not having to outrun the bear, just your buddy. He notes that “fat people" were the 1st to go after the zombies took over because they were easy to catch. Other rules include “Beware of bathrooms” nobody wants to get caught by a zombie while on the toilet and “Always double-tap” (two gunshots, hits, car hits.etc.. to make sure the zombie stays down). He's got about 30 of these rules and the all hilariously pop up during the movie..
Then there's Tallahassee, who I loved straight off the bat - full of testosterone and a “gotta enjoy the little things” attitude.... The zombies are a minor obstacle for him - he actually enjoys the zombie kills. He’s travelling in a Cadillac Escalade, armed to the teeth, and you’ll get a kick out of the creativity and gusto he uses when killing the undead.
Our 2 main men soon meet Wichita and Little Rock (Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin), who have also found unique ways to survive the zombie world. And part of their survival has includes not trusting anyone, and conning their way thru the world. Needless to say the two pairs don't get along very well at first . At gunpoint, the girls obtain their SUV and weapons, though the four soon form a reluctant truce
Eventually they wind up in Beverly Hills taking refuge in a celebrity's home ( I won't spoil the cameo ) but it was one of the BEST parts of the film.. Here in the mansion the two pairs bond a little and we see a bit of romance..
Full of zombie gore and laughs.. it would be a great film just because of those reasons. but ZOMBIELAND offers more than just the hilarious outlook of zombie-killing mayhem . It touches upon the things that bring people together in a crisis than it is about the terrors of survival in a virus-ridden country. I will say it is a must see movie !!
