Zombieland Review

9 out of 10 Skulls

It’s very refreshing to go see a new original horror movie and actually like it. Here lately I’ve been having to watch a lot of Independent horror films since Hollywood puts out mostly crap. Such as The Collector and The Final Destination, but Zombieland isn’t like those. It’s a very good horror and comedy movie. I can’t say I’m surprised, the trailer looked great and it’s been getting nothing but fantastic reviews from horror fans.

Plot: An easily spooked guy, Columbus, joins forces with wild man Tallahassee to fight for survival in a world virtually taken over by freakish zombies. As they destroy scores of the undead, they meet up with two other survivors, Little Rock and Wichita , and journey to a supposedly safe abandoned amusement park.

I’m not a really big fan of horror comedies. But I loved Zombieland. It has quickly climbed to the top of my “favorite zombie movie list”. It’s currently at number three. Right behind Dawn of the Dead(original) and 28 Days Later. I liked a lot of things about Zombieland, but what I liked the most is the comedy. I wasn’t expecting it to be as funny as it was. Several scenes made laugh until I cried. And it’s not stupid comedy, it’s clever and well written. How could you not love the “zombie kill of the day award” Zombieland is a great comedy movie, but it’s much more than that. It’s also a great horror movie. It’s full of zombie action and all of the special effects are great. The acting is also really good. All of the characters are interesting and all of the cast members did a great job but Woody Harrelson stole the show in my opinion. He did a fantastic job playing a badass zombie killer.

We all know a soundtrack can make or break a horror movie, and the soundtrack in Zombieland is awesome. Especially the Metallica song at the beginning of the movie. Zombieland also unfolds at a great place. It’s not to drawn out and it has a perfect running time. And I loved the ending. Especially the zombie clown. He was one badass mofo. I would like to see an entire movie made just about him LOL

Believe it or not, I don’t have any complaints about Zombieland. I loved the entire movie and I don’t think the makers should have done anything differently. It’s perfect as is.

Even if you’re not a fan of horror comedies I highly recommend you check out Zombieland. So far it’s definitely one of the best horror movie of 2009. The acting is great, the comedy is good and the effects looked good. And it will make you want to eat Twinkies, which is a good thing.
