Saw VI Movie Details: DVD, Theatre Date, News, Trailers & More Saw 6 Movie Review
6 out of 10 Skulls
Written by: Googopqp

Now needless to say, I'm not a fan of the Saw series. They are a polluted overhyped series of mildly violent films with a few good gore scenes in them. They started off as a strong breed but then quickly began to die and become far fetched to fit into the original story. Now, with six movies out and about, its all done to how the new one was. Now to me...following Saw 5 is like making a remake of Troll 2, no matter how you make it it really can't be worse. I hated....downright hated.....Saw 5, mostly because the kills had nothing to do with the actually story and were all filler to what was just filler for the overall series.

Now in Saw 6 you discover what was in the box of John's, Jigsaw played by Tobin Bell, girlfriend from the other movies who lost her baby. In that box are six files, which each have someone in them to be "tested". All the victims are a part of a health insurance agency and as the boss of that company is being tested in either having his employees live or die, Detective Hoffman (who you now know is the person helping Jigsaw in the other movies) is a target in an FBI investigation...

Going into this movie I had very low expectations. I was really going to see this movie expecting another one like Saw 5 but with some good gore scenes. Well...Its a hell of a lot better than Saw 5 and probably one of the stronger in the series, surprisingly. But once again the story seemed really far fetched, and not trying to give anything away, but the movie ends on a bleak note where you obviously know there is going to be another movie. Really, if I had to choose one thing in particular to change in this movie, it would be the end! Not the end kills....oh GOD not changing that, just the very end before credits....

I'm going to start off with the gore in this movie. It starts off strong, as do most in the series, but once again this is one taht doesn't live up to the opening scene, well the ending sure as hell did! ;) But from the opening scene of people dismembering themselves to the end of .............................. and everything in between.....I would say this is a pretty gory installment, up there with number 4 and 3 for sure.

Some of the things I really didn't care for in this movie was, once again, the far fetched fitting into the series. Sure, when thinking back about it it makes sense in a way, but they really just found a way to fit it into the story....But at least the kills in the movie were actually relevant to the overall plot. The guy who plays Detective Hoffman, Costas Mandylor, is a big guy but not a great actor, he shows his tells like a beginner poker player, I don't know if thats his character but if they couldn't tell he was the killer at every moment in this movie, then the characters in this movie are also dumb. But he isn't a terrible actor, he gets the job done. And the last thing I didn't really care for is the teaser killings. They start off all big with some good really gory grisly moments, then just weak shit with just blood....Always hate when taht happens!

Overall, for a series that I havn't cared for, this was more of a surprise for me, a good surprise. It wasn't a terrible movie, I actually quite enjoyed it close to some of the sequels, but still isn't my type of movie. At least there wasn't all that annoying camera spinning though that they used too much in the others. Still, I say this should've stayed at one and left it there, but oh well....gotta go with what we have. I give Saw 6 a convenient 6/10!!!!
