When a group of friends go up to a cottage for a fun vacation and discover a secret from an old man about these nazis and their gold, they discover that its true and the once dead nazis are back....and looking for their gold! Now the friends are dying one by one by nazi zombies and they must fight for their lives, literally, in order to make it out alive!
Dead Snow is a fun flick, a very fun flick, especially towards the end. It reminded me a bit of Dead Alive aka Braindead, mostly because there is one character who wears a BrainDead T-shirt. It doesn't remind me of it necessarily on the over the top goriness but more on the craziness towards the end, and I really like that!
Really, the thing I didn't like about this movie was the first fourty minutes or so. Not that it wasn't enjoyable, and that not it was pointless. Its just that it was a bit slow moving, very slow, in the beginning and that caused a bit of a rush towards the end to get things in and done. They could've spread out the kills and added a bit more gore had they started things sooner, but oh well. Either way this is a very fun film.
This is the second film from director Tommy Wirkola who also did a comedy called Kill Buljo. He did a good job with mixing gore with comedy and I did get a few good laughs out of this movie. There is also this film geek character who makes a few references and what not and he has a really kewl scene that I will not mention but think about "Braindead" when you watch this ;)
Although, there is nothing new to really show in this movie, story wise or whatever, this movie still has some great gore scenes, mostly practical from what I see, that are great for gorehounds! What this movie also has is....snow mobiles! XD, yes, tahts right, snow mobiles. This movie takes place in all snow area and there is a snow mobile shots throughout the movie where it is jumping or running zombies over, etc. and it gives new meaning to a snow mobile, its kewl!
Really, the biggest thing in this movie is the gore, and you just have to see it to believe it! Trust me, its pretty damn bloody and very fun gore. Especially, and I do mean taht, towards the end. Definitely check out Dead Snow, its great fun for the whole family, excluding the children, elders, easily offended, and people who are illiterate....because this is ALL subtitled. BUT, don't let that ward you away from this fun nazi zombie flick, I give Dead Snow a 7/10!!!!
