Dawn Of The Dead Review
Written by: MistressOf Horror
Anyone who knows anything about Zombie movies knows or George Romero loves Dawn of the Dead. I'll start out by saying the original is gold . Not to put down the remake which I also enjoyed- but the original is untouchable.. I watched this film back when I was in high school and it blew me away . Right there and then it became one of my favorite zombie movies and will always have a place in my heart. there . now on to the story line
The world is over run by zombies. Everywhere you go, people are being killed and eaten or being bitten and becoming a zombies. Two SWAT team members, Peter (Ken Foree) and Roger (Scott H. Reiniger) meet up with Stephen (David Emge), a news helicopter pilot, and his girlfriend Fran (Gaylen Ross) who decide to steal a news chopper and escape from the madness. They aren't sure where they're going and run into many close calls with zombies on their trip. They eventually spot a large shopping mall and decide to stop and see what it can offer them. The group end up staying in the mall for the time being, and life is good at the mall . Until their secret hideaway is found by the hordes of zombies...
Everything about Dawn of The Dead is great. The characters are the best. The special makeup effects, (Tom Savini, who also acted and did stunt work in the film), is groundbreaking for the time period of this film . Especially the Helicopter scene… The camera work, actors, the Mall setting... and of course the ending…
What can I say folks. I'm in love with this movie…. so go watch it !!
