Hatchet Review
Written by: mr32
Here I go again, its been a while since I viewed this film and for some damn reason it pop back into my mind. So I decided to write my review on this film. Starting from the time I heard about it. I came across this film not on the net, but while I was watching the previews on Behind The Mask which is a better film than this shit. Just seeing all the praise that the film was getting, comments like this: "The Next Icon Of Horror." "Amongst The Greatest Slasher Flicks Of All Time", that quote came from Bloody-Disgusting.com in which I think that is a very overstatement.
I dont believe shit they say about a horror movie, plus their quote is not what made me buy this film. Here's a other comment about the film which a find is shit: "Has Audiences Shedding Tears Of Terror and Laughter". I will give them Laughter, I thought the humor was great but i will get back to the humor later. Shedding Tears Of Terror is bullshit. The only thing that caught my attention about this this film/that got me interested was all of the Film Festival's Selections it got, that's basically what sold me to see this film. And I will say that I was let down by it all the hype. The problem i with this film is the backstory.
The backstory was shit/lame/stupid/uninteresting, my thing if your going to do a backstory my the shit good/interesting, I so tried of seeing deform manic serial killer the shit is uninteresting. My next complain is the stupid supernatural element that was just dump into the film, they tried to explain it but to me it came off as lame and stupid. So basically that's the reason i dont like the film. What I like about it was the humor, like i said earlier it was good, John Carl Buechler XFS, and the cameos by Tony Todd, Kane Hodder, Robert Englund and John Carl Buechler. So I give this film a 6 out of 10 skulls. Behind The Mask: The Rise Of Leslie Vernon is a much better film even if it doesnt have all that gore.
