THE FROZEN DEAD (1967) Movie Review
Written by: wolfman1959
This is another army of dead Nazi's genre film along with Dead Snow, Shock Waves, Oasis of T he Zombies, Zombie Lake etc. This British made film is very rarely seen these days, and when i managed to see it i wasn't expecting very much, and was a little surprised because although it's cheap, cheesey and far from a classic it's not that bad, and is still fairly entertaining. Twenty years after World War 2, a german scientist ( Dana Andrews, of all people!)living in England has a small number of Nazi Soldiers who were frozen when they knew the war was lost, while he worked on a way to revive them, when he revived them there is a big drawback their brains are damaged . He needs a live brain to study and gets it in a way he did not intend when his niece turns up with a friend who is attacked and killed by one of the nazi's who is the scientist's brother and his niece's father ( played by a young Edward Fox!). The friend's head is removed and kept alive and she is not pleased about it and manages a telepathic lnk with the soldiers and her friend. In these moments film is very reminiscent of that old hoary classic " The Brain that wouldn't die".Film described like this proberly sounds terrible, but it's not that bad, although the phoney german accents are!No gore and film takes place entirely in a large stately house or on the grounds of it.The film is no classic but passes the time and it's far better than most of it's type i.e Oasis of the zombies and zombie lake, but then again what isn';t?
