Carriers Review
Written by: AgingHorrorFan
Trailers for this apocalyptic horror tale would have you believe this is yet another zombie flick. The film itself couldn't be further from the truth. This is a horror tale where the infected are nowhere near as frightening as those carrying the killer virus, a timely idea given the H1N1 scare.
Carriers emerges a bit tame for hardcore gore fans. Once the viewer gets past that, this low-budget tale is still a moody, engaging end-of-the-world horror-drama. The emphasis is a bit more on drama, but the horror elements still shine through.
Chris "James T. Kirk" Pine proves he's got the acting chops to be a real star. The rest of the cast turns in solid performances as well. Actually, the performers are much better than the thin script deserves. Another re-write and a longer running time could have made Carriers even better.
The film does generate some great jolts. And the life-or-death decisions the survivors must face are also grimly effective and give the film a much needed edge.
