Gremlins (1984) Review

This is one of my favorite movies from the 80s.....
Plot: *quick because you should have seen this already!*
Dad gets son a cute little creature for Christmas....Mogwai that basically looks like a Furbie. Three rules apply: Do not expose to bright lights....sun light will kill it....do not feed it after midnight and do not let it touch water.
Corey Feldman spills water, of course, on the cute little Mogwai named Gizmo. Out pops other little Mogwais...before you know it, they eat food after midnight and become these ugly little gremlins. They terrorize the town, have some fun and watch some Snow White. The End!
Especially looking back now, I'm impressed by the special effects. There are car accidents, explosions, melting, raids of the town....and of course, the puppet controls on the gremlins themselves that just had a very realistic feature about them. Of course, Steven Spielberg had a part in this movie....which I'm sure helped.
This is a story that I loved as a kid because of how simple it was to follow. Cute creature, don't feed or drink really and it's fine. Then shit hits the fan and all sorts of crap happens. Easy for a kid to follow. Taking that love and admiration I had for the movie and watching it again as an adult gives me a whole new love for the movie and the series. It still looks as good as I remember and unlike other movies kids love, the story holds up and is good to my adult standards.
What great 80s movie would be complete without the man, Corey Feldman. Being in some of my favorite movies of all time, The Lost Boys and The 'burbs and of course, Stand By Me.....I love anything he does. This part is minor but he ruins the day and lives to talk about it.
This is a classic and if you don't own this movie, you're doing yourself a favor by going to the store and just buying it. Peace.
