Class of Nuke 'Em High Review

Pure 80's Troma horror fun is mixed into this classic flick about a high school gone awry. After some problems at the local nuclear facility occur things start to go wrong for Tromaville High School. The honors society turns into a bunch of ruthless fiends selling drugs and beating kids up, some mutations occur, and the boss of the nuclear plant doesn't want to stop a thing because he doesn't want a bad name for himself....Who can save Tromaville High? Well obviously not Toxie because this is a different movie!
Class of Nuke 'Em High is a fun gory Troma classic that I thoroughly enjoyed! It packs enough laughs and gags for any Troma hound while offering up bits for the overage movie watcher. Now, if your new to Troma this would be a good start to see if you want more (along with The Toxic Avenger), this will not only introduce you to early Troma but it'll give you a feel for what else to expect.
Anyways, I really liked this movie. But I'm also a huge Troma fan and an 80's horror fan. This movie has one of the greatest 80's feels you can get, from the clothing, to the music, to the camera and cinematography, just about everything, and I love that! So thats big points in my books.
Lloyd Kaufman (under the name Samuel Weil) and Richard W. Haines directed this with great outcome. Some of you know Lloyd Kaufman from starting Troma along with Michael Herz and directing countless films over the past few decades.
The acting is typical Troma, its not that great and its usually over the top and silly at times. I actually really enjoy that kind of acting, it lets you know this movie won't be overly serious and will most certainly be fun.
The gore in this movie isn't too heavy, there are a few scenes, one good melting scene early on (worthy of a gore montage :P). THe gore looks good, similar to all 80's Troma stuff though, but it all looks good and not really that cheap looking, and not overly cheezy. Unless you call a guy with mutated boobs alittle too cheezy then you'll be fine XD.
Its easy to nip and pick at this movies flaws and all the bad things people can say about it. But thats really an injustice to the film because its not made to please critics, its made for the audience and for the fun! Its not a perfect film, and not Troma's best (in my opinion) but its still a very worth while movie!
Overall, Class of Nuke 'Em High is a blast, its really fun and enjoyable with jsut some minor flaws. Its Troma at some of its best, definitely worth checking out, if your new to Troma this is a good start and if your a Troma senoir and havn't seen this then get off your lazy ass and get it. I give Class of Nuke 'Em High a 7/10!!!!
