Dead Snow Review

Dead Snow made alot of peoples top films for 2009 lists but for me... it was good without being great and entertaining without being excellent. The film had a very limited release by IFC into theaters and a very lackluster kick into DVD. I managed to find a steelcase box for an overly inflated price at HMV but bought it regardless to see what all the fuss is about.

The story follows a group of friends who drive to a cabin in Norway where German troops were slaughtered by locals in 1945. Now the undead zombie Nazis are coming alive to feast. Besides zombies, there's snowmobiles, dark cabins, and well, more zombies!

Without a doubt Dead Snow is fun. It is what I would imagine Evil Dead would have been if it was shot in Norway with the same budget but done today and of course had Nazi Zombies. The film is quite funny at times and without a doubt quite gory. Although entertaining and at times humorous Dead Snow however is not the genius filmmaking I had hoped for. I think that films like Boy Eats Girl and Night of the Living Dorks both offered more then Dead Snow.

Overall its a fun film with lots of zombies, some hot chicks, machine guns, lots of gore and oh.. did I mention zombies? If you like the zombie genre like I do you will enjoy Dead Snow but for me its most likely worth a rent not a buy.
