LEGION Review
Written by: Meh Just as a quick opening note when the end of days comes.. or Armageddon as those religious folks like to call it can somebody gimme a shout on my cell phone? Because I will be sure to go drown myself in the bath tub just so I don’t have to face ‘The Legion’. Lately I have been really becoming a fan of Dennis Quaid. Where as in the past his films have been a let down for me in recent films he has really hit a groove delivering some really memorable characters. Although not the lead in this film he does deliver once again playing a down and out diner owner who ends up taking on God. Tyrese Gibson is also back playing his typical character ‘the angst filled gangster’ and my favourite Paul Bettany stars as an Angel who turns on the word of god to save mankind. Legion is a great film that is packed full of action, features a great cast, some reasonable writing... oh and did i mention an insane amount of action? Scripted by Stewart and Peter Schink, the thriller casts Bettany as the archangel Michael, the only one standing between mankind and an apocalypse, after God loses faith in humanity. Man's lone hope rests with a group of strangers who must deliver a baby they realize is Christ in his second coming. Legion is not scary, but it is creepy. It tells the story of the end of man as God sends Angels and pestilence to send them a very important message... I am tired of your bullshit and your time is up! Legion is a really great action flick that is a toss back to End of Days which is believe it or not one of my favourite religious apocalypse films. There are quite a few similarities between Legion and End of Days but enough differences to make LEGION worth checking out. LEGION is rudimentary in its story and doesn’t try to be Hitchcock. Its end of days, Gabriel and his Angels are coming and if you’re human... you’re in deep trouble. The kind of trouble that ends with your guts on the floor and wings casting a shadow over you. If you like action films with some creepy elements and religious overtones then LEGION is for you. Creepy but not scary its a great film to waste 90 minutes on.
