The Stitcher Review
Written by: aceofspades70 Filled with vibrant color and dutch angles out the wazoo, The Stitcher is a low budget viewers dream. As a fellow filmmaker, I always admire the gusto anyone brings to the table when producing a film. If you actually complete a project, you've done your job, but that's only half the battle...and that's another story for another day. The Stitcher entails the story of a man who suffered a type of mental trauma at a young age which in turn creates a monster in a small southern town. Personally I would have liked to have seen more of him and more graphic scenery of him "stitching" his victims. Instead, we see a bunch of people on a vacation in a house that has been inherited by one of the female cast. Heavy drinking, massive amounts of pot, and a goose chase of each other throughout the majority of the film is what consumes most of the 90 minute adventure. I can however say, that the Stitcher himself had a pretty cool outfit and when he did come into the picture, he was ruthless and hell bent. Slashing his way through the victims like raw meat, he made his kills quick and effective with a blade of death. The "small town" characters in the film provide a good laugh as they sport missing teeth, wielding shotguns, sour attitudes, and an overall B-level comedic dialogue spew that is sure to give a good laugh. Nothing wrong with comic relief, every film needs it. According to the commentary, this film was shot with a "crew of two". Two women braved the odds and did a vast majority of the production work. Now that's gusto. As a fellow filmmaker, I give major props to everyone involved in this film for doing their job and completing what most only talk about. Their heart and soul was wisely applied to this project. As a viewer, I give 5 out of 5 stars as there was some left to be desired in certain areas. The acting was not atrocious but could have used some work, the dialogue was hokey in some places, and a more detailed look at the killers work is in order; but a worthy view nonetheless if you're an independent slasher film lover. Kudos to the cast and crew of...The Stitcher. This is a community member review and not a staff member review. We appreciate and respect the opinions of our readers and are gratefull that they took the time to contribute it.
