Shutter Island (2010) Review

I can't put into words how amazing this movie was.  But I'm going to try!

The movie follows Leo DiCaprio as a US Marshall and his partner, Mark Ruffalo, also a Marshall investigating a patient escape on Shutter Island.  They investigate the island and learn about the different facilities that hold the psych patients. 

Once the patient is found he must get off the island as his work is now done.  However, there are many road blocks in the way.  I can't tell you anything else without absolutely ruining. 

The thing about this movie that made me fall in love is that Scorsese didn't use the musical score that most thrillers and horrors use....where you have the loud suspenseful music that makes the entire theater jump.  This movie is rather quiet and the jumps are because of what happens not because of noise. 

The acting is also off the hook in this movie.  Ben Kingsley, Leo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo are some of the best actors in this generation.  This movie is why.  I've never seen a cast so natural to the environment.  The dialogue, mannerisms and setting just make me believe this all actually happened. 

I wish I could do a longer review because it's a 10 star movie, but about half the movie is a spoiler to any review I could write so just go see this movie and we'll discuss it later.  Please, please go see it!   Peace.
