Prom Night (1980) Review
Written by: The Creature
PLOT: Prom Night is a teenage thriller set in a big city high school. Kim and Nick will be crowned Queen and King of the prom and the excitement of this day is evident. But a number of sub-plots threten to disrupt the celebrations of the evening and eventually turn it into a night of horror. (Exact plot given on the back of the DVD case.)
The film stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Leslie Neilson, and Paul Lynch. The axe weilding murderer in the film is dressed in all black (much like the stalker in Happy Birthday To Me).
At times, the scenes in this film was very dark. That I disliked. Yet Prom Night still had a certain charm to it that made me somewhat enjoy a couple of the badly lighted scenes.
Prom Night is just good cheesy slasher fun. Not a lot of gore, but not too little either. There's a scene where a teen's head is decapitated, and the head rolls down the prom stage. Now that was really cool.
So all in all, Prom Night wasn't a bad watch. It get's a 7 out of 10 rating and a letter grade of a C.
