Day of the Dead Review

Some of you may be saying "What is this guy crazy, a 9 out of 10."Well first off, yes i am crazy and two, for good reason. Now i'll agree, Day of the Dead is not Dawn of the Dead yet it is an astounding film non the less. George A.Romeros third Dead installment is often looked at as the litter of the first three dead films. Many complain that the film is too drawn out, that their is too much dialogue and less zombie action. Now this may be true and just like my insanity, for good reasons.
The thing that stands out most obviously is special effects. Even compared to the newer Land of the Dead i personally believe that Day of the Dead has the best special effects of the Dead series. The gore looks great for one and the zombies look great aswell. Keeping the blue skin plus the now noticable features of decay. Props to Savinin for the amazing job.
Like Dawn, what really makes this movie is the character devolpment which really takes up the major portion of the film. By the end of the movie you've gotten a feel for almost all of the films characters. Similar to Dawn once again, you see how the characters slowly crack under pressure, most noteably Rhodes and Miguel. The characters even begin to turn on each other an almost forget about the zombie plague all together. Oh and lets not forget the amzing development of a special zombie called Bub.
Though the movie lacks the amount of action found in Dawn, towards the end you'll find yourself viewing some of the most intense Zombie scenes to hit the big screen. Such as the famous scene of Captain Rhodes death. Yes the death scenes in this film will leave an impression on your horror movie life for years to come.
Day of the Dead is an amazing movie despite what some fans might say. It may take you two maybe even three viewings of the movie to fully get what you should from Day of the Dead, but in the long run you may just find Day of the Dead to be another Zombie/horror masterpiece.
