Zombie Review

Now im on to the good stuff. You know my all time favorite genre in the horror movie world. And that is zombie movies duh. And why the fuck not? movies about the walking dead usely serves up more gore then any other type of horror genre. In fact my last few reviews for films to watch on halloween are going to be zombie related because i can't get enough of em.
My 4th choice of a film to watch on halloween is Lucio Fulci's "Zombie". To me it is the 2nd best 70s zombie flick. The 1st is "Dawn of the Dead". Not to many 70s horror filcks *hell even the ones of today* can top Dawn. But somewhere in the back ground there is allways Fulci's "Zombie". When i first heard that Fulci's "Zombie" was supposed to be an unofficial sequel to "Dawn of the Dead" i had low hopes for this film cause it was not Romero related. And then came the time i set down to watch it. Truth is my first time watching this film did not go too well. Cause i had it locked in my mind as a fake "Dawn of the Dead" sequel and thats just what i saw. Days went by *hell even years* till i got around to watch this movie again. By then i had read that Fulci's "Zombie" movie was not a fake "Dawn of the Dead" sequel. Its said that Fulci even completed the first draft of the screenplay several months before "Dawn of the Dead" was even released in Italy. So when i heard the news that Fulci's "Zombie" was not assembled out of Romero's "Dawn of the Dead" elements i decided to dig this one up out of the lame horror movie grave and watch it in a different view. With that go round i enjoyed it for what it was. Its a little Italy zombie flick that don't holed back on the gore. Now on to the basics.
This movie is set to be more of a voodoo type zombie flick. And thats usely the type i fucking hate but !!thank god!! it don't really go into too much of that zombie voodoo bullshit unlike Wes Craven's "Serpent and the Rainbow" did. The Acting is not the hight point of this film. While the acting itself is not done bad the movie's characters are ones you don't really ever care for. So yeah when the time comes you will more then likely fill as i did *!!be on with it!! let the dead eat em all!! thats why they where put in the movie in the first place*.
Now as for the Special FX that is the very reason the film caught my eye on the 2nd watch. What we are treated to is some very good flesh ripping zombie fun. Just about anything *gore wise* you can think of happens in this movie and it looks very fucking sick and nasty just the way the Zombie Eater likes em. Now as for the zombies themselves and how they look. Well as much as i hate to say this they look a little better then the ones that are in "Dawn of the Dead". I mean most of the ones Romero had in Dawn where all blue faced don't get me wrong he worked with what he had and what he gave us became a true masterpiece. But still some of the zombies where not all that. The ones Fulci offers are more on the rotting side just look at the case to the movie and you will see what i mean.
Now as for the music it is a bit on the wacky side but it works well and is creepy at times. So im on to the not so good part of the film that is the story i mean its ok but it can drag at times. Haste makes waste so lets get right into it. We meet a young lady who is in search for her father. Her father is a well known Dr that is on a island running a series of studies on the dead. Is he useing voodoo or just a simple run science?. Who knows but his daughter is going to find out when she and a group arrives at zombie island. One this island the dead walk everywhere and there is going to be some major munching going on.
Overall i give *Zombie* a 10 cause it is good zombie fun to get into on halloween so i sugest you get into it right away. Till the 3rd is born. RIP you sick fucks.
