Frailty (2001) Review

Having never seen this movie, I was always skeptical because Matthew McConaughey, to me, can't do horror. He did the one Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie and enough said there, it was horrible!
Then there was Frailty. This movie has some of the best atmospheres I've ever seen in a movie.
This movie is filmed kind of like The Usual Suspects in that you have Matthew McConaughey in the police office/police car explaining the story of his childhood and how his dad got a vision from God telling him and his sons to destroy the demons of the world.
I can't tell you anything else of the story because it would give it away as there is a huge twist.
To make a successful suspense movie, you need one or both of two items and that is children and religion. This movie deals directly with both. We follow the two boys, Bill Paxton's sons in the movie, and all the while with a message from God.
This movie never gets SCARY but it gets intense. Bill Paxton becomes unpredictable and, well the twist comes from nowhere.
That said, Bill Paxton ruled! He directed and starred in this movie and did an outstanding job with both.
See this movie, you'll love it. Peace
