Pontypool Review

8 out of 10 Skulls

Pontypool is a 2009 Candian horror flick based off of Tony Burgess' novel, "Pontypool Changes Everything". This great little gem of a film is directed by Bruce Mcdonald and stars Stephen McHattie, Lisa Houle, Georgina Reilly, and Hrant Alianak.

So this flick was really original. The zombies in this film become zombies from a virus that actually spreads through the speaking of the English language. Pretty different right? Yeah, applause to the filmakers for coming up with something new and not ripping off every other zombie flick out there. Of course, it should be duly noted that the zombies in this film arn't really zombies.  But that's what I'm calling them anyway.

This is a dialog film. And I love dialog (sp?) films. You don't see a "zombie" until halfway through the flick, but Pontypool is still entertaining the whole way through, beginning to end.

I loved the character of Grant Mazzy (Stephen McHattie), he was really fun to watch throughout the course of this brilliant feature. The only complaint I have about this film is the lack of gore. There was some, yeah. But I'm a gore hound and I want MORE!!

Besides the lack of some awesome gore, Pontypool was excellent. I urge you to check it out. Worth a DVD buy I'd say. I give it a 8/10 and a letter grade of a B+
