Cursed Review

Sorry Wes, but what the the hell is this crap. I watched it, wanted to like it, but just couldnt get past a werewolf giving the finger. I mean,...c'mon. Im a huge Wes Craven fan, and his work on the Scream flicks with Kevin Williams was good ( at least the first one) but this was just discouraging. I know it had a lot of post production problems and it really shows. There's characters in this flick that should have had more importance but just seem to disapear, and if your going to have Scott Baio in the flick, then you definately have to make him get mangled by a wolf.

The story started out decent, with brother and sister being infected (coming a bit too close to Ginger Snaps territory here) and their immenint transformation into the great hairy beast. But it went downhill, at warp speed, the ending was predictable, it was far to obvious the movie wasn't over after its premature climax at the horror bar. The fx were pretty cool, the werewolves looked pretty descent as well as the cgi transformations ( maybe a bit much cgi, not enough makeup). The acting was done as well as it could be, but neither could save the movie.

Maybe if they changed the entire ending it could have been salvaged, but not a very strong flick in the werewolve genre overall, can't hold a match to The Howling, American Werewolf in London, Ginger Snaps or Silver Bullet. Leave it on the shelf unless your a diehard Craven fan.
