Resident Evil : Afterlife 3D Review

Ok, Im a die hard Resident Evil fan. I loved the first two installments and was not impressed by the third. I have been anxiously waiting for this fourth installment Resident Evil : Afterlife . I did enjoy the state-of-the-art 3D effects . It added a welcome dose of visual freshness to the story of Alice vs Umbrella, The return of director Paul W. S. Anderson to the series, certainly will please its fan base and possibly attract newcomers thanks to its stunning visuals.
The film opens strong, with its brave heroine Alice (Milla Jovovich ) leading a siege on the evil corporation Umbrella that years ago unleashed a virus that has reduced the world to a postapocalyptic nightmare overrun by flesh-eating zombies.
Alice brandishes heavy artillery and well-sharpened knives while mowing down endless reserves of hapless opponents, perfect video game battle.

Unfortunately, if you aren't a fan of the game you probably won't appreciate its slow moving  plot. After a quick solo flight to Alaska and a reunion with her old friend Claire (Ali Larter), who has amnesia, Alice makes her way to L.A. There she joins forces with a handful of survivors trapped in a futuristic high-rise prison, with thousands of zombies growling at them from below. Among the group is Claire's brother Chris,( Wentworth Miller), which will please many RE fans.

There isnt much zombie action- but when there is--its  high-octane action sequences, featuring enough slo-mo and bullet-time effects to remind us not only of the series' video game origins but also, "The Matrix". I have to admit the villian seems to have also stepped out of a Matrix film himself.
I particularlly liked the showdown between Alice and Claire with a giant zombie wielding what looks to be a giant meat tenderizer and the appearance of a couple of zombie dogs who split their heads into two parts, each complete with razor-sharp teeth.

Shot in actual 3D rather than being the latest example of the horrible post-shooting conversion process, "Afterlife" undeniably looks magnificent. I loved the way the rain and drops of water were shot and a scene where Alice has to shoot her way through a horde of zombies was done with absolute perfection.

The really enjoyed this film and I believe other Resident Evil fans will be pleased with it .
