Resident Evil Afterlife (3D) 2010 Directed by: Paul W.S. Anderson

Ever wonder what was going to happen with the Army of cloned Alice’s we discover at the end of Resident Evil 3?  Well no worries because you find out in the first 15 minutes of Resident Evil Afterlife.  This film was freaking great!  From the balls to the wall assault on the Umbrella Corporation’s headquarters in Japan, to the snowy icecaps of Alaska back to the wasteland which the City of Angels has become this film scores big time.

I have not really enjoyed any of Paul W.S. Anderson’s films since he directed the highly underrated "Event Horizon".  This film makes up for all the others in my opinion.  The action sequences were top notch along with the set designs and creatures encountered in this installment.  A huge improvement from the 3rd entry in the series which is the weakest in my opinion.

Like its predecessors the film does follow a "style over substance" formula but it really doesn’t hurt too much as they did such a good job laying out the action sequences.  Wesker as the villain was great…I truly hope we see him in the next film as this entry does leave it wide open for another sequel.  We also finally have the introduction of Chris Redfield from the games, why they have left his character out to this point is a mystery to me.

Now to mention the 3D.  It was fantastic.  Easily the best 3D film I have seen since Avatar.  It was noticeable that they carefully planned out every shot as it had the audience ducking at certain points throughout the film.  There is also tons of slow motion "Bullet Time" which I actually enjoyed.  It’s pretty cool to watch a bullets exit dual guns and fly through zombie’s heads splattering gore all over the audience!  Good shit!

I highly recommend this film to fans of the rest of them and zombie fans in general as there is some pretty good zombie mayhem in this flick.  In my opinion this is easily the best Resident Evil in the series thus far.  It was good to see Alice get back to the basics and kick some zombie ass.
