Saw Review

10 out of 10 Skulls

Keeping the grins off my pleasured face was such a tough job when i first saw SAW, i mean the movie totally made my insides weep for more. I got what i needed from a movie and thats all i was interested in for the next 2 hours while i watched a masterpiece unfold. Saw was brought to us around the autumn of 2004, unluckily i didn't get to see this movie till around February 2005 so as the storm is calming for many me its right here to stay for a couple of weeks. Saw (2004) was directed by James Wan the man that brought us nothing at all to our screens just fresh into Hollywood with a massive hit. Hes set to be directing SAW 2 as we speak. saw's advertising strategy was excellent from the start with big bold writing were every it could fit saying, "Do you dare see SAW?" The whole world knew that the movie was coming to us and the great thing about the movie is that its masses of money it made never really just come from the great advertising but from word of mouth on how good the movie actually was. The movie was set with class it had style, allot of high intense scenes and very cleaver, right down to the smallest detail making this one of the best movies of 2004.

Theres one things Ive always liked in a movie and thats a cast that know how to make me feel sorry for them. In this tale you just got to, i mean its just a standard because the poor bastards in this movie go through hell, i mean hell. The story was cool and the cast worked well around it, i mean that the cast fitted each part. First we are brought to a sort of dirty bathroom holding cell were two guys find them self, with a dead body in the middle of them and them chained up with chains looking like they were made for giants. The first two guys on screen were Leigh Whannell and Cary Elwes, (Twister and Liar Liar) Even though the whole movie is really about them it wasn't written like Open Water were 2 actors had the whole movie on their shoulders they had a well written story and smaller storyline to help. On the way we see a huge amount of actors from the well known face of Danny Glover to the smaller actors like Avner Garbi. The movie stars Cary Elwes, Danny Glover, Leigh Whannell, Monica Potter and Michael Emerson. For me the stars of the show were Cary Elwes, hes a known face to me after my addiction to Twister but when i read up on lately I'm surprised to see he has allot of great movies under his belt. His performance in SAW was great, he acted like the backbone of the two's troubles and it was great to see him breakdown at the fact that the physco has his family. The character Dr. Lawrence Gordon was just so lover ball, he couldn't do a thing wrong and his attempted affair you could forgive him about that because hes just that type of character. Another actor that i did like was Michael Emerson who played Zep Hindle, him himself just looks like a madman, a skinny pussy type on but still a good one. He fitted his role just nicely but the only thing that he didn't impress me on was the fact he didn't act like he had some mental problems like the work he did previously.

SAW has been talked about as the new version of the 1995 smash hit Se7en, for me the movie had similar things coming out of them but mostly it had its own identity. The movie was set in dark horrible sad locations and most scenes were like this just like in the movie Se7en. After that it was totally on its own with a overload of gore every min and total atmosphere it was great. Best scenes include the actual hack sawing of the foot, slashing of the black dudes throat and the jaw snap. The biggest thing that i think the movie had to offer is the movie did look really and with great acting and a well directed movie it looks real. I haven't seen so much toucher in one movie in my life and to add to the excitement it actually looks Real another thing that were great is the story is set out for you in the present time and as it goes on you learn of movie and past events, this was great because we get to see loads and loads of events and there gore. The only problem i didn't like was the fact that the movie gets pieced together allot and if you turn away for that second you will be completely lost and at the end you have to have a IQ over 140 to understand it.

The music and soundtrack were a good thing too, allot of rock and heavy music. The sounds and effects really enhanced the excellent visuals and made everything from dripping blood to shootings that much more sweeter. So overall the movie is a good one and should be seen by all i just wish i enjoyed the movie when everyone else did. Must be seen and brought when you can get your hands on it. Everyone that has seen the movie gave it a positive review so that must be saying something. Great on screen action, gore and atmosphere enhanced by very high intense action makes the movie one of them that you keep coming back for more and every time you do watch it again you will notice something new time after time. This is defiantly a movie if your planning to get laid to because them girls ain't going to want to watch it without you having your arms wrapped around them.
