7 out of 10 Skulls

Before i get this review rolling i want to get one thing starght with you. The only reason i put "Dawn of the Dead 2004" as my 2nd choice of a film to watch on halloween is because i've allready reviewed the original a while back. So if a true cult classic is what you seek check out the original it has so much more to offer. Horror movie babe Moviemaven is not the only one that has issues with remakes. The Zombie Eater finds them pointless also. Being stuck in a mall is the only thing that resembles the original in this remake. Don't get me wrong in order for me to put "Dawn of the Dead 2004" as my 2nd i had to like the film some what.

Truth is "Dawn of the Dead 2004" is about the only fast moveing zombie flick i care for. If this flick was not counted as a remake to George Romero's classic it would be much easyer to enjoy it. Maybe even if it would have been considered a fake sequel to the classic but no not a remake *but thats what we get so fucking deal with it*. Enough with the bitching about what it could have been lets enjoy it for what it is. Its another ride into a mall of doom and now im going to touch on the basics. First things are allways first and damn them. The acting is not bad. there are however alot of characters left out or added in that was not in the original. One of the biggest let downs i find in this remake is the lack of the bikers scene.

You know in the original when the bikers broke into the mall and fucked up everthing and the zombies got to have a big feast. Well that kickass scene is completely left out in this remake. Ok again enough with the bitching on to better things like the Special FX. Im not going to lie to you they are good. What we see of the zombies when they are not moveing to fast is very impressive. And i like the way the time line goes. You see the zombies start off fresh they were folks that just got infected by a virus. As time goes by the zombies fall apart with rot. As for the gore not too much here. Sure there are a few bites and some nice headshots but its nothing compared to the original. And as for the unrated version i watch both the rated R and the Uncut back to back and i could not see a damn bit of difference. If any of you so called horror geeks can tell the difference please post it and let me know wtf am i not seeing. Cause when i buy a unrated movie i exspect to see some nasty shit kinda like the "Land of the Dead Unrated" dvd gives. And the music !!man what a let down!!. The ever funny but some how creepy mall music that we all came to love in the original is history in this remake. All we get is some fake sounding background music and a jazz version of that corny new metal song "Down With The Sickness". !!!On with it i say!!. To the story that is. The world is no longer a safe place to live *Like it was safe to begin with*. Some kind of virus brings forth the zombie age.

Every knee must bow because the dead walks the earth *Well the dead runs the earth like there in the fucking olympics in this movie*. Our story takes place in the United States *No not china sorry*. We see an average town turn into a unaverage town in a big way. We meet up with a small group of survivors. They inprison them selfs in a shoping mall for safety from the living dead that runs the earth. The mall they inprison them self's in must be haveing some kinda bargain sell for the dead. Because the fast runing zombies are head over hills to get in. And they will not slow down till they get what they want. And we all know what that is. From the way i told the story it may sound very much like the original but trust me its not. Just watch and find out for yourself cause if i took the time to point out everying that was changed this review could go on forever . Over all i give "Dawn of the Dead 2004" a 7 its not a bad zombie flick in fact i enjoyed it just as much as i did the "Night of the Living Dead" remake but it don't serve justice to the original i'll leave it at that. Find out what my number one choice of a horror film to watch on halloween is this Sunday the 30th. you'll never guess what movie it is or did you allready? RIP till the 30th you DeadFucks.
