Night of the Living Dead Review
Written by: Norrock The Zombie Eater.
Its the Harvester Of Pain aka The Zombie Eater here. And now it is time to unleash the beast. My number one choice is George A. Romero's all time classic that started it all "Night of the Living Dead". This is one i never miss waitching on the dark holidays. And if i were to make a quick list of horror films for you sorry sons of bitches to watch on hollows eve it would be this classic along with "Dawn of the Dead" "Day of the Dead" and the unrated "Land of the Dead". Thats just what me and my Zombie Babe are going to be chillin to this halloween. BTW just to let you know i enjoyed the unrated "Land of the Dead" a hell of a lot better i now give it a 10.
So those of you that saw the R "Land of the Dead" and wrote it off as a non Romero zombie film because the lack of gore and the fucked up ending should give it another try because the unrated "Land of the Dead" is filled with all out Romero zombie gore that the theatres did not have the balls to show. And as for the ending fucking deal with it its the gore that matters the most. Speaking of gore in my book "Night of the Living Dead" was the first good gore flick ever made hell this was the first real zombie movie to be made. This film holds a special place in my cold empty heart. It was the birth of Romero's long runing dead trilogy. Face it no one can make a zombie flick like Romero they can add all the fancy cgi Special FX bullshit they want but none of em will hold up to Romero's works. Romero has been serving up his dark visions of zombie apocalypse for over 30 years and is still top notch to this day. Basics are basics we all need to know whats in the flick that makes it tick. Read and find out. The Acting is good. but acting is never a subject i like to run my mouth about too much.
All im going to say is its about like any other Dead film in Romero's history some characters you will like and some you will hate. Now as for the Special FX they are very good considering this film was made in the 60s this is a very graphic violent film. Back in the 60s "Night of the Living Dead" gave horror fans something new to Experience. And that something was the dead shall devour the living in movie form. We see the very first as i like to call it Zombie MunchDown. Now as for the zombies themselfs im not going to lie the zombie makeup is weak in this one. This is a B movie that turned out to be a cult classic and George started out with very little. But however the folks that play as the zombies do a fucking good job they walk and act very much like the living dead. Now im takeing you into the thing that really makes this flick tick and that is the story. Wellcome to the year 1968. All seems right but all goes wrong when a young lady and her brother drive out to a cematary to visit a loved one. Usely a cematary is the resting place for the dead and we are the ones that pay a visit to there ever sleeping soul because it helps keep peace in our hearts and minds to go to the place that we know whats left of them sleeps forever.
But on this late stormy afternoon something wrong takes place. It is not we who visits the dead anymore but the dead is riseing to pay us an ever lasting visit. This is the beginning of the end call it what you will ,doomsday or the ,zombie apocalypse. And this young lady and her brother just happens to be right in the middle of a cematary when this hell begins. At first its just a joke to the brother anyway. He jokes about the dead riseing from the ground trying to scare the shit out of his sister *They're comeing to get you Barbra* without knowing that there really is a oncomeing zombie apocalypse that is going to change the world forever.
The jokeing fool loses his life to the very thing he is jokeing about. While Barbra is left to wonder alone in a cematary full of dead corpses bursting from there graves. She makes a fast getaway with luck on her side she comes to find an old farm house. In this house she hides away from the terror that walks the earth just outside. As the night rolls on she meets up with six other people. And they are just as shocked as she is with whats takeing place just outside the door. Outside the walking dead has only one purpose and that is to eat the flesh from any living being in human form that crosses they'er path. They surround the house knowing that there is fresh meat just inside. And it is going to be hell to keep these flesh eaters from brakeing in. All seven people must take a stand and fight with what they have if they want to survive this first moon of many terrors to come. Over all this classic gets a 10 from me. And there you have it my number one choice of a horror flick to watch on halloween. Have yourself a marry hollows eve. RIP....
