Synopsis:

A reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom.

The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine, is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White (Moore) and her daughter, Carrie (Moretz). Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin (Judy Greer) tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson (Portia Doubleday, Youth in Revolt), but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell (Gabriella Wilde, The Three Musketeers), regrets their actions.

In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross (newcomer Ansel Elgort), to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc. Brian De Palma’s 1976 film version of CARRIE earned Oscar nominations for stars Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie.

CBA with remakes tbh. It’s basically going to be a crappy rerun of a film I’ve already seen.

That’s what they are saying on rottentomatoes

  2. Bob Mikkelsen October 19, 2013 at 5:16 pm

    It was crap.

  3. Omar Carbona October 19, 2013 at 5:27 pm

I want to see it, and I’m not gonna pass judgement until I do, but…how are there no storytellers out there capable of writing original scripts for new horror films? Why do they have to keep banking on rehashing ideas from the past, and doing it worse? Wouldn’t it still make good money if they invested in good writers who made unique horror film experiences? I just don’t get it.

  4. Brian Tere October 19, 2013 at 5:47 pm

It’s not really a remake if they follow the book closely. Which they don’t. So it’s just another stupid remake starring a gorgeous chic who plays an ugly chic.

  5. Ronald Schettino October 19, 2013 at 6:25 pm

Not only did Kimberly Peirce (and her writers) change a very important aspect of the story, nearly bringing the movie down in several places. **SPOILER** Carrie DOES NOT “practice” her powers at any time in the novel or the original movie (nor, the Television re-make), making her seem ‘cutesie’. The crappily edited, and fully distracting, flashbacks to those cutesie scenes during the carnage/climax were wholly unnecessary (what? did we just forget what we saw 20 minutes before?!). There isn’t enough toilet paper in WalMart to wipe this much crap off the screen :-(

  6. Bob Mikkelsen October 19, 2013 at 6:34 pm

It should have bypassed theaters and went straight to video, that’s how bad it is.

  7. John DeGroot October 19, 2013 at 7:35 pm

    crap

  8. Scott Payne October 19, 2013 at 7:45 pm

I seen this last night and it was better then the orgional. Those that are saying that it was crap have no fucking clue on what they are talking about and need to just STFU and I have seen both films and have read the book numerous times. The changes that we’re done didn’t bring the movie down one bit.

  9. Bob Mikkelsen October 19, 2013 at 8:19 pm

Likely the worst film adaptation of a king novel I’ve seen

  10. Stephen Wymer October 19, 2013 at 9:49 pm

I get the feeling most of these people had their mind made up before they even saw it.

  11. Andy Olearczyk October 20, 2013 at 3:10 am

    Still need to see

  12. izombiheartzoey January 30, 2014 at 6:10 am

They had a huge opportunity to tap into contemporary bullying and how the internet is used for children to social torture each other. But they didn’t do so great with their implementation. Its like the movie is stuck in some kinda time warp.
