Not as great as I expected. It had its own unique spin on the H.P. Lovecraft story, that is for sure. The acting was fine, the interaction of characters just spiffy. It just didn't have enough bite for me, or tenticles, could have raised a little more havoc in the tenticle department. The movie slowed a bit flopping between what was happening in one location then over to the other. I mean for Old Gods, these things are thwarted by humans pretty dang easy, not even a black and blue mark on the humans. Gore went by the wayside.
Jeffery Combs played the part of a man with a ten year old mentality well, but I would have rather seen him, normal and out for evil, or at least plotting to bring evil and death into this world. Dean Stockwell made a wonderful Doctor of following and defeating weirdness. Maybe the movie just should have been longer, bloodier and Yog Sothohlier
Its worth a watch, rented or free. I wouldn't want to own it. Guess I have to look elsewhere for a good tenticle movie...sniff.
