Silent Hill Revelation 3D Review

Silent Hill Revelation 3D ReviewI LOVED this follow-up to 2006′s Silent Hill! Simple, eerie, and fun! Sure it’s not going to win any awards, it’s a horror movie, nor will it be popular among critics but like i care. Judge for yourself. The story picks up after the first film with Christopher (Sean Bean) and Sharon(Adelaide Clemens); now re-naming herself Heather(the little girl from the first movie) is in high school living in a new house with her dad, they are on the run and never stay in one place for very long.

Sharon still has Alessa in her(what good was left of her), she is haunted by memories and nightmares on silent hill which eventually become premonitions.The story does go into telling you she was left as an Orphan and adopted by Christopher and Rose (Radha Mitchell), who only has a small cameo in this film, she is trapped in Silent Hill forever, having saved Sharon to return to the real world. This movie focus’s more on scare tactics and creatures than the previous one, and less on the actual cult. The 3D was great, CGI effects worked well! The creatures were awesome!

All of the same Silent Hill score was throughout the movie, Alessa’s mother returned, The nurses were back, Pyramid Head, The Spitters has a minor cameo and a crazy spider creature was introduced with creepy mannequin heads attached to it! I loved the carnival in premonitions and throughout the movie with the bloody bunnies! Just like Silent Hill 3 video game. They also took Sharon’s character and it was a dead match to the character in Silent Hill 3! From the hair, white vest, flashlight and handgun! It was great! I jumped a bunch of times, i was on edge during the nurse scene, and many of the quiet long hallway shots, They really adapted Silent Hill 3 video game into the feel of this movie, It was dark, eerie, and fun! Like i said about the Resident Evil movies VS the games, I will say the same for Silent Hill;

If you liked the first Silent Hill movie, you will like this one! If you didn’t like the first one, don’t see Revelations. If you like the games and not the movies, just play the games and don’t bother watching the movies. As for IGN’s 4.5/10 BAD review by Chris Tilly: “Silent Hill Revelation 3D is an inferior sequel in every way, shape and form, a horror sequel that fails to either intrigue or scare, and one that just might have killed the franchise cold-dead.”

I guess because this movie is based on the video games it’s being rated. The review is obviously by a gamer with a biased opinion on the franchise even being made into a movie, It’s very obvious. I’m not sure what the reviewer was expecting? Just play the games, skip the movies. or maybe you’d prefer a nice piddly PG-13 teen horror movie like The Possession, Insidious or The Unborn? LOL

        The whole bottom of the face looks photoshoped or CGI… man what happened to makeup? Is it becoming a lost art or are the directors just getting lazy? That’s something many of these new FX heavy horror movies have in common, they look fake… you just don’t believe what your seeing.

        Watching the DVD now. I haven’t played Silent Hill 3 (2 was soooooo boring), but I’ve been pausing the movie and looking up names/places mentioned. Looks like a lot of them are from the games. I’m sure fans of the game will enjoy that.

          Also wanted to mention that the creatures are great. That was the one thing about the 1st movie that I didn’t like (not enough creatures). 40 minutes in and it’s been nearly non-stop scares (not jump scares either).
