First Trailer for R.I.P.D. Feels Like M.I.B.

Jason McDonald

The first trailer for R.I.P.D. is finally here and it really reminds me of Men In Black in terms of tone.  I’m not saying that like it’s a bad thing, in fact, if it’s anything like the first Men In Black than it’s sure to be a great time at the movies.  The film stars Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges and is based upon the Dark Horse Comic by the same name.

Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds headline the 3D supernatural action-adventure R.I.P.D. as two cops dispatched by the otherworldly Rest In Peace Department to protect and serve the living from an increasingly destructive array of souls who refuse to move peacefully to the other side.

The film stars Jeff Bridges, Ryan Reynolds, Kevin Bacon, Mary-Louise Parker, Stephanie Szostak, Robert Knepper, James Hong, Marisa Miller, Mike O’Malley, and Devin Ratray.  It’s directed by Robert Schwentke and hits theaters on July 9th 2013.  Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.

I am not sold. I like you think it looks and feels way to much like MIB. Snarky young cop, grumpy old cop, lots of CGI, lots of one liners, little substance.

I would be curious to hear what comic fans think of it.

It does feel like MIB, but I love MIB so that’s okay. I also love Jeff and Ryan. I am looking forward to this one!
