Arnold Schwarzenegger Confirms Terminator 5

Herner Klenthur

There has been endless talk of what will happen with Terminator 5 and will that movie ever happen. Well folks the original cyborg Arnold Schwarzenegger has announced that Terminator 5 is going ahead and he will be leading the march.

In an interview with Metro Magazine Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed that he has three projects in the works and one of them is in fact Terminator 5. Call me nostalgic but I am incredibly excited.

Various writers have been working on a script for Terminator 5 for years. Just last year Arnold Schwarzenegger let his frustration be known that after almost a year and a half of writing the script for Terminator 5 was a mess.

His latest announcement to Metro seems to show that finally the fifth terminator movie is finally on track. As far as who will direct it the last name that was kicked around was Justin Lin who we know met with the Big Man and the legendary James Cameron to talk about directing Terminator 5. He told The playlist

“Terminator’ is something I’ve been having a lot of fun with,” said Lin. “Just even this week, I had a great meeting with Arnold and James Cameron, just sitting down unofficially. And James is so gracious because he’s not part of the project, he’s not going to be producing, but it was great of him just as a filmmaker to take time out to just talk.”

Frankly my only dissapointment is that William Wisher is not involved despite his showing interest. William Wisher co-wrote the original two Terminator movies and had interest in doing more. He actually wrote up a 24 page script treatment according to Deadline which accommodated the storyline of Terminator 3 Rise of the Machines and Terminator Salvation.

William Wisher reportedly walked away from Terminator 3 and Terminator Salvation out of respect for James Cameron. His plans for Terminator 5 and 6 he would have taken it back to its time travel roots, introducing new Skynet Terminators and bringing back Linda Hamilton, John Conner and Kyle Reese.

More importantly he would base Terminator 5 and 6 in the midst of the war which is what I have called for since Terminator 3 Rise of the Machines. Terminator Salvation sort of did this but I want to see the story start from where John Conner enters the bunker after Terminator 3 Rise of the Machines and show people under the steel boots of the machines as they clamber to unite and survive.

Wisher’s take on Terminator 5 not only had Linda Hamilton returning but it also had a role for Arnold Schwarzenegger that Deadline calls as shocking as Arnold’s twist from villain in Terminator 1 to hero in Terminator 2. This part has peaked my interest and has me wondering what on earth could this twist have been.

What do you think of a Terminator 5? Do you want to see Christian Bale return or do you want to see things go all fresh with Justin Lin directing, James Cameron producing and an all new story? I am not sold on Bale’s returning but Anton Yelchin was fantastic in Salvation and his returning is just fine by me.

Im excited for it to continue. For me Justin Lin are you reading this??? The perfect way to arc this whole story is to bring back everyone. having Arnold back is great but not as a terminator…as a scientist who they make the mold from. Same goes for Robert Patrick, with him have like a scientist rivalry between him and Arnold. SO then we understand why those 2 were picked as the molds for the Terminators. As for Kristanna Loken, maybe she was one of their daughters or something. But you must find the way to go back in time and we need to find out how man finds and uses the lazer weapons. Add all that up plus John Connor and Kyle Reese and maybe even a character from the tv show to intertwine everything and you have a kick ass 2 part finale for the Terminator franchise!!!!

Leave the time travel story lines for the first 3 movies. Continue after Salvation.

Doug and Donny are right…but Arnold and Patrick and others would not be scientists…they would be elite rebels that are chosen by Skynet to be the molds for Terminators and are hunted/captured by new machines not seen yet. They could show us enslaved or volunteer scientists making and testing not only the Terminators but also the time travel equipment. Edward Furlong would be the perfect actor to reprise his role as John Conner as an adult. It doesn’t matter if he looks and sounds different than what people expect. Would be great if Ed is open to this and they compose a great script. Hope someone is checking this out…oh…maybe they could have Conner save Arnold’s character after he is used for the mold and tests the time equipment by bringing Sarah Conner into their present sometime after events of Terminator 2…anythings possible…a good story is needed with some heart and action. Time travel should be used. Cheers!

oh…I forgot…just a thought…maybe the time displacement equipment is meant to be used by the rebel scientists to stop Skynet and eventually Skynet captures it all. Cheers!
