New Mortal Kombat Game in the Works

Jason McDonald

You knew it was coming, even if you didn’t.  Like the changing of the seasons or the coronation of a new Pope, there will always be another Mortal Kombat game.  At this point it was simply just a matter of when and where it would be announced.

Like all great announcements, this one came in the middle of a video about another subject from a producer who accidentally revealed that a new game was coming.  While speaking with GamerHub at last week’s San Diego Comic Con, “Mortal Kombat Legacy” Producer Lance Sloane was asked about the current status of the next Mortal Kombat movie.  That’s when he dropped this choice quote:

Well we’ve been in green light committee for a little while at the studio and we’ve got a great script… It’s just…figuring out the business side of it and when we’d do it and when we’d launch it.  How do we sink up with the launch of the game that they’re work on now?  So yeah, it’s not 100% yet, but we’re getting closer everyday.

So there you go, confirmation in a roundabout way.  Of course, it’s not “official” and given that NetherRealm Studios is still focusing on their latest fighting game, “Injustice”, I wouldn’t be expecting any major announcements about Mortal Kombat any time soon.  Still, if you’re a fan of the series it’s always exciting to know that another one of those games is on the horizon.
