George Romero Finishes New Script

Goon 7 Comments

Everyone has been waiting to see what the Master of Horror George A. Romero would do next. There has been several rumors about what his next film would be. But today it has been revealed that he will be returning to the living dead with his recently finished script, The Zombie Autopsies.

George A. Romero had optioned the film rights to Steven C. Schlozman’s awhile back and is finally getting the wheels rolling. Of course now that his script is finished the real work begins. With so many studios trying to make their own zombie films it can prove difficult even for a pioneer like Romero.

Hopefully soon we will hear something about this project. Below is the synopsis for the book, The Zombie Autopsies.

As the walking dead rises up throughout the world, a few brave doctors attempt to find a cure by applying forensic techniques to captured zombies. Based on the research of renowned zombie expert Dr. Stanley Blum, performed at a remote island where a crack medical team has been sent to explore a radical theory that may lead to a cure for the epidemic, THE ZOMBIE AUTOPSIES documents for the first time the unique biology of zombie organisms.

Twenty-five detailed drawings of the internal organs of actual zombies provide an accurate anatomy of these horrifying creatures, including zombie brains, hearts, lungs, skin, and the digestive system, while Dr. Blum’s notes reveal shocking insights into how they function, even as Blum and his staff themselves begin to succumb to the plague. No one knows the ultimate fate of Dr. Blum or his researchers, but now that his notebook,

THE ZOMBIE AUTOPSIES, has been made available to the UN, the World Health Organization, and the general public, his scientific discoveries may provide the last hope for humans on earth!

I really can’t trust Romero anymore and his zombie movies anymore – which is a shame because I genuinely like the guy and he’s been as inspiration for me wanting to become a filmmaker. But the facts are the facts, his last really good zombie movie was Day Of The Dead… Land Of The Dead was adequate, Diary Of The Dead felt like a poorly made student film… and Survival Of The Dead was just a disaster – not only in plot, but also in the awful cgi zombie effects…

i think Romero still has one last good zombie movie in him, he just really needs to dig deep to find it.

Romero hasn’t made a good movie since Two Evil Eyes. Another zombie movie? SHOCKING! I guess as long as their fat guys with beards wearing “ROMERO IS GOD” t-shirts, he still will have a target audience. But yeah, the last three “dead” movies= garbage.

Would like to see it made…..take it or leave it Romero can not always make a hit 100 % of the time none of them can like Lucas, Scoresee, De Palmer, even Spielberg had flops.

It will only be good if he respects zombies again and loves what he is doing. Saw Night of the You Know What in 1969 as a freshman in college at the Orson wells Cinema. The intensity of fear never let up. NO COMIC RELIEF. One hung on every word on the TV for an explanation and there was none really. Existential terror. The political message was in the subtext. The ‘Zombie’ Trilogy to me is really up there with Tolkien’s Trilogy and I mean the Lord Of The Rings books here. That is how awesome and deep they were. But the horror went away and the caricature appeared. He should round up Tom Savini, they were like two teenagers blowing up Sherman model tanks with firecrackers and go in the woods and scare themselves…Then let’s see.
