‘Jeepers Creepers’ Director to Helm ‘Purgatory’

Ryan Sternfels

Writer/Director Victor Salva is moving from redneck scarecrow-demon monsters to old-western vampires in his upcoming film Purgatory.  Written by Denis Faye, a relatively unknown in the mainstream but a well-respected writer in WGA (Writer’s Guild of America) blogs, The LA Times, The New York Times, and other major journalistic publications, Purgatory follows a sheriff of a small old-western town who teams up with an English vampire hunter to fight a nest of vampires terrorizing the town’s defenseless citizens.

Salva made a name for himself with the 2001 cult-favorite Jeepers Creepers and proceeded to write and direct the disastrous supernatural thriller Rosewood Lane in 2011.  After the cultural success of Jeepers CreepersSalva wrote the sequel and proceeded to move on to some lesser known projects until the announcement of the 3rd installment currently in movie limbo.  Now that Salva‘s on to other projects, it’s unsure whether or not we’ll ever see Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral any time soon.

Nick Sternberg and Jesse Felsot of Cat and Mouse Films are producing.

No news yet as far as a release date, but the film is expected to start shooting this fall.  Sound like something you’ll see?  Give us a shout in the comments below!
