Dayo Okeniyi Cast in Terminator: Genesis – Plus Plans for a New Trilogy

Dayo Okeniyi Cast in Terminator: Genesis Plus Plans for a New TrilogyAnd Alan Taylor’s Terminator: Genesis continues to cast up as we have just received word regarding the final piece of the puzzle. Recently John Boyega (Attack the Block) was on the shortlist to star in the film as Danny Dyson, Miles Dyson’s son, but it appears he is out and Dayo Okeniyi (pictured right; The Hunger Games, The Spectacular Now) is in.

According to Deadline, it was somewhat a tug-of-war between storied franchises The Terminator and JJ Abrams and Star Wars, which also wanted Okeniyi to test for one of the leads of that film. In the end Paramount and Skydance’s David Ellison stepped up and the actor unpacked his bags.

Dayo Okeniyi’s character is said to be somewhat of a Steve Jobs genius “who figures heavily into the conclusion of the film. He is Danny Dyson, who is also the son of the brainiac cyborg developer Miles Dyson, played by Joe Morton in Terminator 2: Judgment Day. The young man holds the key to technology development that makes Skynet possible.”

As for the planned trilogy? Well, the site reports that they have plans to shoot three installments to put the franchise to rest. This will see the second and third films being shot back to back over over nine months. The first film in the planned trilogy, Terminator: Genesis, is set to begin production in Louisiana shortly.

Terminator: Genesis also stars Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jason Clarke as John Connor, Jai Courtney as  Kyle Reese, and Arnold Schwarzenegger will once again reprise his role as the cyborg.

The film is set for release this July 1, 2015.
