While I have mixed feelings about the first season of Netflix’s “Hemlock Grove”, I’m sure there are quite a few fans out there who will be thrilled to know that the series is indeed returning for a second season.
IGN broke the news today that Netflix has announced a premiere date for “Hemlock Grove” season two. The streaming service will debut all 10-episodes on July 11th, in all territories. Netflix has also released an EXTREMELY short teaser trailer which you can check out below.
Charles H. Eglee has joined the series as new executive producer and showrunner for the second season. Eglee has some previous horror experience having worked on “The Walking Dead” and on other shows like “The Shield” and “Dexter.” So he knows a thing or two about monsters and deranged people.
According to IGN, the new season will be a departure from the book series from which the show is adapted from. This might be a bit disappointing for fans of the book, but it sounds like the book will still serve as an inspiration for the series. It’ll just be a looser adaptation. Here’s what you can look forward to this season (warning: spoilers ahead):
We’ll also learn more about The White Tower and the experiments going on in there, and meet an important character, Miranda Cates (Orange is the New Black’s Madeline Brewer). Plus, while Hemlock Grove’s body count continues to be high, we may learn that someone who appeared to be dead at the end of Season 1 actually made it out alive – besides Olivia, that is!
The show is also touting a transformation that you rarely see: werewolf back into human. Which promises to be just as graphic as turning into a werewolf. As someone who was lukewarm on “Hemlock Grove”, the new season sounds like it’s going to try and tackle some new ideas that might be fun to watch. If they can improve upon some of the aspects I didn’t enjoy about the first season, I might be willing to give it another chance. What say you? Excited for a new season? Let us know.
