New Gameplay Trailer for ‘The Evil Within’

With PAX East currently underway a few of the big game companies, and some smaller ones, have brought their wares to the annual convention/gathering.  One of which is “The Evil Within” from Shinji Mikami, the man who created “Resident Evil.”  Bethesda, who is releasing the game, has put out a new gameplay trailer for the horror-title which you can check out below.

The trailer doesn’t offer an in-depth look at the gameplay featured in “The Evil Within”, however, we do get a better idea of what the game will entail.  In the trailer you can see the game’s protagonist navigating through medieval death traps, using a bit of stealth to get around, and discovering that his gun is pretty impotent.

It’s interesting that they haven’t shown too much gunplay, they seem to be emphasizing other aspects that make “The Evil Within” feel more like a classic “Resident Evil” entry.  Given that we see Sebastien strapped with a shotgun in part of the trailer, its evident that combat will be a factor, but I hope it doesn’t become a straight “shoot-em-up” ala the newer “Resident Evil” games.

Synopsis: “Detective Sebastien Castellanos and his partners are called in to investigate a gruesome mass murder. After witnessing a mysterious force slaughter his fellow officers, Sebastian is ambushed and knocked unconscious. When he awakens, he finds his world has been turned upside down. Fighting for survival in a world where hideous creatures wander among the dead, Sebastian embarks on a frightening journey to unravel who or what is behind this unimaginable evil.”

The game is expected to hit current gen and next gen consoles (along with PC) on August 26th, 2014.  Sadly, Nintendo owners are the only ones left out of the party. Sorry.
