Don Mancini Says That Chucky 7 is Still in the Works

With the rather weak return of the Leprechaun it’s about time that someone stepped up their pint-sized killer game and brought back the reigning champ.  While “The Curse of Chucky” didn’t set the world on fire, it was still a solid sequel that brought the series back to its roots.  Sadly, Chucky fans have been left wondering whether or not we’d get another Chucky film.

Thankfully Don Mancini has our annual Chucky update this week with a new Tweet stating that he is “currently working on the script for Chucky 7.” And that’s all there really is to say about Chucky at this time.  There have been infrequent reports since around December 2013 that another sequel was in the works for the infamous killer trapped in a doll.  However, what we really need to see is a rubber stamp from Universal Pictures saying that everything is official.

That being said, knowing that Don Mancini is still out there fighting the good fight is comforting.  I just hope that once his script is put together, Universal will still be in the Chucky business.  I don’t know if Chucky can be the big box office draw that he once was, but with the advent of VOD services he doesn’t have to be.  There’s still a place for Chucky in this world, I just hope that Universal can see that.
