Plaga Zombie is Coming to the U.S.!

Goon
The Argentinean zombie flick "Plaga Zombie: Zona Mutante" has just gotten North American DVD distribution by Fangoria International. In fact it will be released as a two disc special edition DVD in August. The set will include the orginal Plaga Zombie adventure that was filmed in 1997. As well as a behind-the-scenes featurette and interviews.

Plaga Zombie: Zona Mutante concerns a trio of unlikely heroes (played by Parés, Sáez and co-producer Berta Muñiz as skull-cracking wrestler John West), who battle hordes of the undead in their besieged suburban burg. The ghouls have been infected by an alien virus by the FBI, who cordon off the entire town where the trio is trapped. The three stooges must outwit the zombies and feds in their bid for survival.

This film has me scratching my head. According to Fangoria, this film features FX never before seen in Argentinean film before. Well if they mean "bad" than I'll believe it. But I guess the movie is extremely funny based on what Steven Mackler of Fango Video said.

"When I screened PLAGA ZOMBIE in my office, the howls of laughter from both my daughter and me echoed throughout the building. The film is off-the-wall and totally crazy. PLAGA ZOMBIE is not your garden-variety zombie film. It’s as if Monty Python made a horror/splatter flick."

The film looks like something an early Peter Jackson might make if he had $0 budget. You can check out the trailer or the official website.
