Japanese Anime Meets 80′s Splatter in Adam Chaplin

You want blood? We’ve got it! Emanuele De Santi’s Italian splatterfest, Adam Chaplin is bursting with the red stuff, this is looking epic. Inspired by Japanese anime and splatter films of the 80′s, Adam Chaplin looks set to be a killer flick, heavy on the blood and exploding with ultra-violence.

With much thanks to our friends over at QuietEarth we have the NSFW trailer and information on the upcoming film. Currently there is no release date for the film, but hopefully it should hit DVD this Summer.

The film utilizes a new technique known as H.A.B.S. (Hyperrealistic Anime Blood Symulation) instead of having me struggle to try and explain what this involves, here’s the official description;

“The Habs is an innovative FX technique that allows to join together realism and dynamic action similar to a japanese anime cartoon . Thanks to HABS, it’s possible to spread out a huge amount of blood avoiding the vaporization of Fake Blood that normally occures using the traditional techniques. In the classic splatter movies , the blood is spread out using a compressor and different kind of tubes.

The high pressure necessary to make huge amount of fake blood spread out, creates the typical “watering can” effect and generates a “Purple cloud” around the prosthesis, because the blood colour is altered (from red it change into pink). With HABS very bloody scenes with an high level of realism can be made, and it’s possible to recreate in a splatter movie, the extreme actions that you can normally admire only in anime cartoons.”

Adam Chaplin is directed by Emanuele De Santi and stars Emanuele De Santi, Valeria Sannino, Alessandro Gramanti, Paolo Luciani and Christian Riva.

Synopsis: “The film, set in an unreal country called Heaven Valley, tells the story of a man, Adam, whom after the death of his wife — occurred in suspicious circumstances- begins to investigate on her murder, discovering the involvement of the local mafia boss: Denny Richards

Unable to trust the police, clearly corrupted and controlled by Danny, Adam destroyed by his anger, summons a demon who will give him a superhuman strength and dark powers. The demon will follow him during his trip, promising to lead Adam to the murderer if he does everything he asks.This unleash a bloody war that will bring Adam, deployed with the demon on his side; and the police corp with all its dark allies, on the other. Denny infact, supported by his two sadistic sons Ben and Derek, will also enrol an hired killer. The fight can start… and it will be extreme!”
