Jason McDonald

Some days you just never know what the world is going to throw at you.  A few years ago the rumor mill began to churn about the existence of a fifth sequel in the “Phantasm” series.  However, things quickly grew quiet again and it just seemed like another hopeful rumor.

But it would appear that those rumors may have had some truth to them after all.  Aint it Cool News has broke the news that a fifth “Phantasm” film is definitely coming and they’ve even revealed a brand new poster for it.  The new film will be called “Phantasm: Ravager” and ShockTillYouDrop is reporting that the whole thing has already been shot.

Now all we need are some plot details and a release date, but unless someone else lands a last minute exclusive that might be all we hear for today.  So, in the meantime, journey down below to check out the first poster and begin your celebrations.

Don’t fuck it up! Loved those movies. And unless Angus can play the Tall Man it won’t be the same.

Well, the good news is, actors Angus Scrimm and Reggie Bannister are still alive. Unfortunately, Scrimm’s likely too old to reprise his role. Maybe, he and Reggie could’ve cameos in the film. I don’t know. Like Ghostbusters, you would prefer to see most of the official cast.

We have waited a l o n g, l o n g, time for a Phantasm 5. Anchor Bay was the one who would not give it the green light. I don’t know how you can make a film “quietly” unless it’s going to be direct-to-dvd. i hope there is truth to the rumor and hopefully Don Concarelli will make an announcement soon.

Just read that David Hartman wrote and directed Phantasm 5. It was filmed in Crestline, California using Reggie Bannister’s home. They have been filming little by little since 2008.

Unless it’s on imdb, it doesn’t exist.

Imdb isn’t always a reliable source either. They have listed the fake James Bond movie trailer “Come and Dive”, which was a reported hoax. They have not filmed not one frame of Bond 24 yet and not until this November 2014. The fake trailer was fan-made. Some movie listings, it takes time for imdb to get it up there and that includes actor’s credits and cameo appearances too. Imdb is not immediate, johnny on the spot. Since they have released the name of the director and an actress has also announced Phantasm 5, I would like to believe this movie is real and the poster is not a hoax. Perhaps if Reggie Bannister made an announcement, that would be proof of the sphere in the pudding.

Wait till y’all watch the trailer. It looks VERY low budget

        • James McDonald April 3, 2014 at 1:05 am

I thought Phantasm 4 was low-budget too, but even if Phantasm 5 is low-budget, I will still watch it. Too bad a major studio could not finance the project for them in the beginning and Anchor Bay did turn them down for Phantam 5.
