It Appears That ‘Amityville: The Awakening’ Poster Ripped Off ‘The Possession Experiment’

Okay, I’m not gonna lie. I didn’t really pay much attention to the newly released poster for Amityville: The Awakening, as I had lost interest a long time ago during one of the many push-backs of the film. But, when I did take a look, I had a feeling that I had seen that image of that girl somewhere, but I couldn’t have, I haven’t even seen the film.

Well, I did see one film but it certainly wasn’t Amityville: The Awakening, it was actually Scott B. Hansen’s The Possession Experiment. But surely a major film company wouldn’t rip off another film?

So, Desiree Connell, production manager of The Possession Experiment, took to the comments section of Dread Central and stated, “This is literally [exact] imagery from our film.” And take a look at the comparison below, there’s definitely no question,  the hair, the eyes…. It’s all the same! I wouldn’t be surprised if the film gets pushed back yet again, and if it does, I feel really sorry for the cast and crew that worked on this as well as those that, at one point, was looking forward to this. The same goes to the guys over at The Possession Experiment, it’s their work and even their actress Kt Fanelli being displayed on a film that she isn’t even in.

The film stars Bella Thorne, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Cameron Monaghan, Thomas Mann, Taylor Spreitler, Mckenna Grace, and Kurtwood Smith. Franck Khalfoun (Maniac) directed the film, which has been cut from an R rating down to PG-13.

SynopsisBelle, her little sister, and her comatose twin brother move into a new house with their single mother Joan in order to save money to help pay for her brother’s expensive healthcare. But when strange phenomena begin to occur in the house including the miraculous recovery of her brother, Belle begins to suspect her Mother isn’t telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house.

If this one does hit this June 30th, will you still be watching?
