Kurt Russell Talks About Escape From New York Remake

Over the weekend Kurt Russell attended the CapeTown Film Fest here in Los Angeles, California and proceeded to engage in a Q&A about Escape from New York.  Questions ranged from his thoughts about director John Carpenter to how the character of Snake Plissken was designed.

Inevitably the subject of the upcoming remake was broached and Kurt was asked for his opinion about it.  According to Collider, this is what he had to say:

Russell said that while he admits that nothing is sacred in his industry, he did feel that remakes should be done to films that are flawed and need revising to make them right. When asked about his opinions on who should play Snake if a remake were done, Russell remarked that he thought it was interesting how many people have given him their suggestions and the actors are always from Australia and other countries. “There’s one thing I can tell you about Snake – he’s an American.”

Oh man, only Kurt Russell could make that sound so bad ass and poetic. Excuse me for a moment, my tear ducts are swelling with patriotism.
