NBC Working on a TV Show Based on the Brides of Dracula

Everything about this show sound very un-horrific, but I thought we’d mention it here in case there are any of you out there that love the Brides of Dracula and want to see them get more exposure.

Deadline has revealed that NBC is working on a pilot for a new television series based on Dracula’s brides.  As you might recall from the numerous versions of Dracula, the legendary vampire usually has three beautiful women in his thrall.  They’re usually super hot and John Harkins is usually all like “Hey ladies, how’s it going? Are we doing this? What’s up?” And then they do something crazy like eat a baby and he’s all “Oh, nevermind.”

Well this new version of the story will focus on the Brides having been freed of Dracula.  Here’s how Deadline described the plot of “Brides”:

Brides is described as a sexy reimagining of Dracula as a family drama with a trio of strong, diverse female leads, a show about empowered women and the things they do to maintain wealth, prestige, legacy — and their non-traditional family.

Yeeeeeeeah… I dunno.  It sounds like they took a cool premise, a series about the Brides, and did their best to make it generic.  But, who knows, it could be an interesting and dynamic show.  It’s hard to go off a simple boiled down premise, but the one given doesn’t inspire a lot of excitement.

The series is being written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa who recently wrote the “Carrie” remake and handled “The Town that Dreaded Sundown.”
